Our experienced student services team will guide you through every stage of the Malaysian student visa process, from initial document preparation to your arrival in Kuala Lumpur. Below is a clear overview of how the process works.
Step-by-Step Visa Process
Submit Your Application to Meridian
Complete the Meridian enrolment form and send it to our admissions team along with a copy of your passport. We will review your application and confirm your eligibility for the programme you have chosen.
Receive Your Offer Letter
Once your application is approved, we will issue an official offer letter confirming your place at Meridian Language Institute. This letter is a key document in your visa application and outlines your programme details, fees, and start date.
Prepare Required Documents
Gather the documents needed for your student visa application. You will need to provide the following:
- Valid passport with at least 18 months of remaining validity
- Passport-sized photographs (white background, 35mm x 50mm)
- Academic transcripts and certificates from your most recent studies
- Proof of financial support covering tuition and living expenses
- Medical examination report from an approved clinic
Meridian Submits Your Visa Application to EMGS
Our student services team compiles your documents and submits the complete visa application to the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) portal on your behalf. We handle all correspondence with EMGS and keep you informed of progress throughout the review period.
Receive Your Visa Approval Letter
Once EMGS approves your application, you will receive a Visa Approval Letter (VAL). This document authorises your entry into Malaysia as a student. Our team will send you the VAL along with detailed instructions for your next steps.
Travel to Malaysia and Complete Visa Stamping
Arrive in Malaysia with your VAL, passport, and supporting documents. Within the first few weeks, Meridian will arrange for you to complete the visa stamping process at the immigration office, officially activating your student pass for the duration of your programme.
Required Documents
Before your visa application can be submitted, please ensure you have prepared the following documents. Our admissions team will confirm exact requirements based on your nationality and programme.
- Completed Meridian enrolment form
- Valid passport (minimum 18 months validity from your programme start date)
- Ten passport-sized photographs (white background, 35mm x 50mm)
- Certified copies of academic transcripts and certificates
- Bank statement or financial guarantee letter demonstrating sufficient funds
- Medical examination report (including chest X-ray) from an approved panel clinic
- Health insurance coverage for the duration of your stay in Malaysia

Processing Times
The student visa process typically takes between four and eight weeks from the date of submission to EMGS. Processing times can vary depending on your nationality, the completeness of your documents, and current application volumes.
We recommend beginning your visa application at least three months before your intended programme start date to allow ample time for processing, document gathering, and travel arrangements. Our student services team will keep you updated at every stage and notify you immediately once your Visa Approval Letter has been issued.
